[Artful Reader's Club - February].....

 I'm letting go... don't worry...
since I stood in  the circle of my heart
there is no other way for me except the way I am guided...
that is good Dumani said...
it is good to know that you have found what
you were looking for..
.....Mark Vale

The book I chose to read for February was
'The Last Shaman' by William Whitecloud...
it is the new... second book from William...
his first being 'The Magician's Way...
which I have read and loved...

the story continues with the same character Mark Vale...
who along with his doctor friend Maxine
makes the trip of his lifetime into the Meluti swamps
in war torn Africa in search of the Last Shaman....

it is a story of soul searching...
of finding the elusive answer
to the continuous flow of momentum
when living a life you love....
and living from your heart...

and it is a story about the characters Mark meets...
who in essence teach and inspire him...
a story of shape shifting
and the discoveries Mark makes along the way...

the artwork was inspired by the Ndotsikatsi... the lady sorcerer....
whom we meet in the book...
the body colors reflecting the clay and ochre body paint...
and the circles on the page....
representing the 'standing in the circle of our intuition'...

it did take me a few chapters to get into the story...
but quickly became a book
that I loved to read each day....
and  there were definitely aspects that resonated completely...
whilst it would not be a book for everyone...
it does contain some gems of self discovery...
I would recommend it for anyone who is open to
living a life magically and authentically...

also linking this as face 21 in the 29 faces challenge...
everyone's fabulous book reviews
and artwork from the challenge can be found here...

  22. I love the combination of literature and visual art Jenny. :-) I have once put a garden flower in 10 different books and wanted to create art related to the content of the pages the flowers were drying and pressed in. I haven't come to the painting yet...
Your painting is expressive and colourful! I love the combination of stamping and painting.
