Life is either a great adventure or nothing...
.....Helen Keller
Every production of an Artist
should be the expression...
of an adventure of his soul...
.....William Somerset Maugham
I was a tad excited when I unwrapped this mixed media journal
on Christmas Day...
(I may have dropped a few hints...lol)
I had heard good things about this journal...
and I wasn't disappointed...
not only do the pages lie flat...
but they are smooth and cope well with a lot of layers...
So...
I began my first page with my word for 2013...
'Adventure'...
when I sat down and thought about which word I would choose...
Adventure just kept jumping out at me...
I love that choosing a special word for the year...
inspires me...
gives me focus...
and provides a foundation to both ground me in the New Year...
and a base to spring from...
Adventure feels authentic and soulful...
So...
I'm ready for new discoveries in 2013...
of making the most of new opportunities...
of moving out of my comfort zone...
in fact... I'm ready for it all...
the excitement... the learning, the mistakes... the joy...
of finding adventure in every aspect of my life...
both in a physical and spiritual sense...
this year...
my heart is taking me on an adventure...
I'm diving in...
and I'm ready for the ride of my life...
We live in a wonderful world
full of beauty, charm and adventure...
there is no end to the adventures that we can have
if only we seek them with our eyes open...

Hi Jenny, Happy 2013! I just finished writing a comment here on your wonderfully inspiring post, it was a long one too, when it suddenly disappeared . Not impressed. Love your words and art....Stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI too was pondering a word to live by for the new year after reading an email from Jessica Swift. http://www.jessicaswift.com/_blog/treasuring She has a great article on Nourishing Habits. XXX
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting book. I can see possibilities.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
Rick
Great journal page! WOW!!! way to go, Jenny. :]
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing process unfold... an "artful" journey. ~xx
p.s. How is your mixed-media Strathmore- journal working out so far? Are the pages thick & flexible with a range of art materials? Please do share. :]
I am loving the Strathmore Journal April... the funny thing is that I was making my own from Arches 300 g/m water color paper... and was always getting a little buckling on the other side... these pages are only 190 g/m and yet the back of the pages are completely flat... I saw that this is the journal that Jane Davenport uses and loves and so wanted to try it out... she has a review in her shop about this one... also love that it is not spiral so I can work across two pages if I want to... it’s a keeper...
