Wherever I go...
I meet myself...
.....Tozan
I painted this canvas before Christmas...
and thought it was finished...
but today for some reason...
I pulled it out again to stamp in some words...
and a scalloped heart...
perhaps the Universe thought I needed to hear these words...
again...
thank you... yes.. got it...lol
I think I can now call it complete :)
and..
I have a funny little story to share with you about this page...
that they thought the girl in my painting looked like me...
it is something my son often asks me...
"am I drawing myself"...
to which I always reply no...
because I just can't see it...
but...
the comment got me thinking...
because just before I sat down to paint this page...
I had been for a walk around our local lake...
it is incredibly pretty and tranquil...
and after the walk... I sat down on a seat just near the water's edge...
to meditate... and think...
a large butterfly would occasionally flutter past...
and behind me were trees... the green grass...
and suddenly it clicked...
I realized...
that without even consciously meaning to...
the page I had painted was the exact scene from that morning...
and that girl WAS me...
it made me realize again...
just how easy it is to overlook the obvious...
and not be consciously aware...
and not be consciously aware...
of the very thing that is right in front of your eyes...
I'm grateful for these little nudges...
snippets of learning and reminders that are finding me...
and lastly...
I have joined in with April's wonderful facebook group...
it is a fabulous group with lots of different things happening...
one of which is a monthly online book meet...
and this is the book April has chosen for the first month...
I just has to share it with you...
I've only just ordered mine...
but the adorable artwork alone in the book preview
has me sold already...
I can't wait for it to arrive...
Loving my reading with the Artful Reader's Club as well...

ReplyDeleteLovely work. I think our art always shows at least a part of ourselves, whether we want it to or not! Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I definitely think our artwork shows parts of ourselves. If not a physical likeness, then certainly a soulful likeness. Beautiful work Jenny!
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting, Jenny! I always feel like it was meant to b or heard when quotes resonate like that. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, as well as the quotes! Funny, I pull out things that I thought I was done with and to it it as well...sometimes things come to you later that you just know will make your project perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, it does look like you! It is amazing - the little things we continue to discover in our artistic journey, right!? I absolutely LOVE that quote too! Perfect!! xo
ReplyDeleteLoving your terrific artwork Jenny, x
ReplyDeleteSo much here Jenny. First of all...the addition to your beauty up there is perfect. We need to listen to our hearts and then follow what we hear. And then...Yes! I thought the last painting looked like you too! Everything you said rings so true.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you pulled it out and stamped in the words, I love it and she looks really deep in thought, and the second one I love the story about the second one, beautiful

I LOVED this story! And I agree - I think it's so true how much of ourselves we put into our work without even being fully aware of it - and you are so pretty! Look at you there :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou do beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteLovely work. And isn't it funny how the mind works? Even when you think you make up random stuff it always originates from somewhere. A belated happy new year to you, Jenny.
